The Open Water Instructor Course

There are different open water instruction programs offered by different scuba diving schools although the PADI Open Water Scuba Instructor program is one of the finest, followed by NAUI. The open water instructor program will focus on primarily gaining comprehensive knowledge and training with the help of educational materials. So the next question is where do you start?

Open Water Instructor Requirements

There are certain requirements for the open water instructor course as this is an advanced program and needs some amount of experience and skills. The requirements include:

  • You need to be over 18 years of age
  • You should have an Assistant Instructor certification. Alternatively, you can also show six months of work experience as an instructor with any scuba diving training school
  • You should hold a dive certification for a minimum of six months
  • On the day of application, you should have logged at least 60 dives including deep, night, and navigation dives
  • You need to show proof of CPR training taken in the last 24 months
  • You have to submit a Medical clearance for health and fitness, which is signed by a physician
