The SCUBA octopuses are spare second stage demand valves and their mouthpieces are fed by own pressure hose from the cylinder. Thus these SCUBA Octopuses form a very useful and an integral part of the SCUBA Safety kit. These Octopuses are very much useful in buddy breathing. This Buddy breathing is carried out in case of emergencies wherein two divers share the same demand valve. Therefore it is customary to attach a secondary demand valve to their diving regulators which enables the other diver to tide over the emergency situations arising due to the shortage of the breathing gas. |
