Underwater Communication

An essential part of underwater diving is communication as it is the way by which the diver receives and sends information to his team. There are three major ways by which divers all over the world exchange information by pulling a rope attached to a ship, by signals or by gestures. Transmission of information is done in current systems with either acoustic or optical techniques. Optical systems are used for transmission of information over short distance while optical systems are more versatile and used widely. Hydrophones transmit information using RF and microwave. Apart from this there is also a commercially available wireless technology. The two way wireless communication available is based on ultrasound waves.
